So ladies, you may want to print out a copy and leave it casually lying on your honey's desk, bedside table, or wherever he'll be sure to see it. You can always claim innocence as to how it appeared there!

It's a lovely, deceptive spring day here. Sunny and beautiful, but you step outside and my goodness, it's brisk! At 48 degrees, with the wind whipping up on occasion as high as 24 mph, brrr. To think only two days ago the temperature was 70 degrees and I used the AC in my car for the first time! Ah well, that's the split personality of spring.

Hope you all are enjoying your life and your weather, wherever you are.

1) My favorite class in high school was concert choir. I was a first soprano.

2) I learned to knit when I was five. My dad worked for the Boy Scouts and we were at a Boy Scout camp all summer. With not much for a little girl to do, my mom taught me to knit to keep me out of her hair.

3) My great-grandfather had a band. He also played with John Phillip Sousa's band when they came to town, and Sousa stayed at his house.

4) My grandfather heard the distress call of the Titanic on his homemade radio set. Of course, no one believed him until the next day when the news was everywhere.

5) The one food group I can't live without: chocolate. (You knew chocolate is a food group, right?)

6) My favorite color is fuchsia.

7) I was a vegetarian from 1971-1981, and I've just gone back to being one again.

Q: Welcome, Ashley! Can you tell us a little about you and your books?

A: Sure.I write romantica (romance + erotica = romantica) for Ellora's Cave, New Concepts Publishing, and Total-e-Bound. Within that genre, I write in several sub-genres. Romantic Comedy (American Beauty, Purrfect Justice, Price of Fame, Mrs. Right), M/M/F (The Perfect Gift, And Lady Makes Three, Brit Party anthology), Futuristic (Chances Are, Carbon Copy, Alien Encounters, Eternal Damnation), Paranormal (Sex Kittens, In The Witching Hour, Wishcraft), Time Travel (Make-Believe Lover), Vampire (Blessed Be, Eternal Damnation, coming soon Truth, Justice, & The Vampire Way), contemporary (Civil Affairs, Deadly Love, Forbidden Fruit, Tigers Play).

Q: Wow, what a lot of genres you write in! When did you first start writing and what inspired you?

A:I started writing stories when I was six, so I honestly can't remember what inspired me. Probably Walt Disney. I also had a lot of fantasies involving John, Paul, George, & Ringo (in particular Ringo back then - now it's Paul and John), Mickey (Dolenz), Davy Jones, David Cassidy, Donny Osmond...

Q: I remember a huge crush on Davy Jones myself. :-) So when you sit down to write, do you have any writing rituals?

A: I get in the car, stop to get a large diet Coke or diet Pepsi, go to Borders, set up my laptop or Alpha Smart, order a toasted bagel with cream cheese, plug into my MP3 player or put Daughtry or Constantine Maroulis into my laptop, and settle into a deep armchair to write. That's my normal routine. Sometimes, I go to Barnes & Noble instead. On occasion, I write at home, usually as part of my Endurance Writing group in sprints.

Q: Interesting! I ought to set up writing at Dunkin' Donuts. What is your writing schedule like? Do you write during certain hours or on certain days?

A: I write whenever, and wherever, I can find a few spare minutes. I work a full time day job and have children still at home that keep me running, so I write at their ball games (tonight I put pen to paper during my daughter's softball game). My serious writing is at Borders, usually - marathons for at least two hours in the evening after work, and sometimes for several hours on Saturdays and Sundays and holidays from work.

Q: I bet my readers would like to know what books you are reading now.

A: A couple of Harlequin NEXT books. Also Patrice Michelle's "Scion's Resurrection." I'm also reading "Angus Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging" by Louise Rennison.

Q: I love that last title! Who is your all-time favorite author?

A: Stephen King. I absolutely love his book "The Stand." It's my very favorite of all time. I love his characterization, his prose, and his plots.

Q: What historical figure is your hero or heroine?

A: Hercules.

Q: All those muscles! ;-) Sounds great to me. What would be your image of an ideal man?

A: Indiana Jones and Rick O'Connell (The Mummy). I love swashbucklers, especially ones like Indiana Jones that clean up nicely when the occasion calls for it, but who can also get down and dirty and kick ass when there's a bad guy around.

Q: Definitely hero material. So let's say you have Indiana, or Rick, knocking at your door. What's your idea of the perfect date?

A: Slow dancing, especially under the moonlight, and even better near a seashore (like Biloxi - what a sexy beach under the moon - at least it was when I was stationed there in the Air Force. I hope it is again, but I haven't been there since many years prior to Katrina). A midnight swim would also by idyllic.

Q: Ooh, sounds wonderful. Getting back to your books, can you tell us what you're working on next?

A: About eight or nine stories, actually. LOL. I'm pretty sure I'm ADHD (four out of my five children are officially - they have to inherit it from somewhere). The sequel to Make-Believe Lover for Ellora's Cave. Bound Brits for TEB. Another M/M/F for TEB. A few Harlequin/Silhouette type books...

Q: Wow! You're sure a busy lady. :-) Is there anything else you'd like to tell my readers?

A: I'd like to invite all readers and writers to visit my blog often. I have a lot of great guest bloggers a few times a week, and I run a monthly contest for a free download of one of my books. You won't want to miss it. Often my guests announce contests, too.

A: I'd be glad to.

Release Date for All Work and No Play

Hooray, I have a release date for All Work and No Play! It will come out on November 28, 2007, and the ISBN number will be 978-14199-13532. No cover art yet, but I hope that will arrive soon so I can post it to tantalize you!

In the meantime, I'm working on some new story ideas I hope you'll enjoy. More news here when available!

Making Progress

I'm currently working on the edits from my editor for "All Work and No Play." Things are shaping up and looking good. I think I'm close enough to give you a little tantalizing clue. Here's the blurb for the story:

Julie Preston worked hard raising her younger sister Emily after their parents died, and creating a career. She gave up simple pleasures like love and relationships. So when a friend drags her to a singles bar, Julie’s ready for anything. She meets a gorgeous guy and they spend several passionate hours together. There’s real chemistry there, but Julie regretfully sticks to her promise: a one-night stand, no strings.

When Julie hires a tutor to help Emily pass English, she’s shocked to find he’s the man from the bar. Seeing him in her house makes it hard to keep her hands off him, but he isn’t looking for a long-term relationship since he’s a singles bar patron. Right? How many miles can Julie jog before she gives in and jumps him?

Hi everyone, great to see you here! I'm Lila Dupres (with an accent mark...darn it...how do I get an 'e' with an accent mark?) and I'm a writer. I have a book coming out from Ellora's Cave...no release date yet, but I'll keep you posted. It's called "All Work and No Play," and it's part of the Torrid Tarot series. More info here when available. Just wanted to start spreading the news!

In the meantime, I'd like to hear what kind of stories YOU like, especially if there's something you'd like to read that isn't out there yet. Who knows...I might write it!
